Cleaning Alternatives

  • Basic Disinfectant - use for widows or Kitchen counters - Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in Spray bottle.
  • Kitchen sink or tub-  Sprinkle baking Soda and then Spray on Vinegar. This will cause a slight bubble effect. Wait a couple of minutes and then scrub with sponge. For really tuff stains in the sink let it sit a while or Sprinkle Baking Soda and then Spray Hydrogen peroxide and let sit for a while.
  • Bathroom mold-  Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with two parts water in spray bottle and spray on areas with mold. Wait at least one hour then rinse. Also if you spray Vinegar when you clean this will help keep mold from growing as fast.
  • Furniture Polish- Mix 3 parts Olive oil to 1 part vinegar. Apply and polish with a clean soft cloth. Beeswax is also another alternative.
  • Oven Cleaner-  Make a paste of baking soda and hot water. Sponge onto stains and wipe clean
  • Garbage disposal freshener-  grinds ice and used Lemon or orange peals into the disposal and sprinkle a little baking soda.
  • Toilet Bowl Cleaner-  Sprinkle some baking soda into the bowl. Drizzle with vinegar; scour with a toilet brush. This not only cleans, it deodorizes, as well.
  • Carpet stains-  Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in Spray bottle Spray directly on stain, let sit for several minutes, and clean with a brush or sponge using warm or soapy water.

 

Removing mineral deposits ( Hard water build up)

  •  In water Distillers simply turn the unit off and pour a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water and leave over night.
  •  Soak shower head in vinegar overnight, then rinse in hot water, to remove water deposits and keep it flowing freely. Take a baggy and fill it with vinegar and wrap it around shower nozzle. Leave it over night
  • Use full strength on glass shower doors. With a cloth saturated in vinegar wipe down door and let it soak over night. Depending upon amount of buildup you may have to do this a couple of times

Other non toxic choices

  • Flea Powder : 1/2 teaspoon each dried eucalyptus, fennel or rosemary, and Pennyroyal, 1/4 cup cornstarch
    Grind the herbs into a powder in a spice mill or a blender. Combine with the cornstarch in a glass jar. Shake to blend. Sprinkle on the pet and work into the fur. Makes 1/4 cup. Preparation Time: About 15 minutes. Shelf Life: Indefinite, although the herbs will lose their potency in a few weeks. Storage: Glass jar
  • Tick Repellents  : The best choice for tick repellent Essential Oils
    Rose Geranium
    Palmerosa
    Other herbs and essential oils: Bay, Eucalyptus, European Pennyroyal, lavender, lemon balm(citronella), myrrh, rosemary or tickweed (American Pennyroyal). Caution: Pregnant women should avoid pennyroyal
  • General Bug Repellant for People:  Garlic, chives, leeks, onions. These work best when eaten raw in a salad or just slightly cooked. Also, there are three different versions for each. You can buy it from the conventional store, organic food store or eat homegrown from the garden. The best of the 3 choices is homegrown, these foods contain a lot more nutrition in them and a little goes a long way. Garlic, especially, has antifungal, antivirus, antimicrobial and antibacterial powers
